Games have always used mythological figures in their gameplay. However, Smite offers something more unique, especially to players. It is a multiplayer online battle arena game where players can control a god, goddess, or other mythological creature and take part in a 5v5 combat using each of their distinct abilities and tactics against each other. The game has been widely popular that there have been multiple tournaments such as an annual Smite World Championship.

Gods and Goddesses
Smite has over 90 playable characters. These characters all came from different mythology all over the world including Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, Hindu, Japanese, Mayan, Norse, and Roman. Each of these gods and goddesses possessed distinct skills and abilities to help them fight in the arena and classify them into one of the following classes: Warrior, Mage, Hunter, Guardian, and Assassin.
This game allows you to play as Zeus, Kali, Thor or even Ra, and use their legendary weapons and divine powers to defeat your enemies and win the war.
Gameplay
The game offers an online battleground where gods and goddesses fight in a 5 versus 5 battle. Similar to other MOBA games, teams fight together and plan out a strategy to reach the opponent team’s area, destroy the Phoenix and the Titan, a large warrior who must be defeated for you to win the battle. While fighting in each of their respective lanes, gods are accompanied by minions, soldiers who help them reach their goal.
The player takes control of a god in a third person perspective, a unique feature since most MOBA games are played in a top-down view. Each of these gods has a basic attack, four abilities, and a passive trait. You can use these to plan up strategies and defeat the enemy team.
Review
Smite is becoming a popular MOBA game next to Dota 2 and League of Legends. Currently, the game is one of the most popular ones on Steam. Its diverse gameplay and interface will provide you with a new setup. One of its figures is its mythology theme, introducing various characters from different countries such as Scylla from Greek mythology, Ratatoskr from Norse mythology, and Chaac from Mayan.
And as mentioned earlier, Smite introduced a third-person perspective. The game brings you directly into the action by giving you the same point-of-view as your playable character. With its blind-side ambushes, the game gives off this essence of realism where you must think of a new strategy to win the game.
Smite is a free-to-play game for Microsoft Windows PCs and gaming laptops. You can download it on its official website or via Steam. It is developed and published by Hi-Rez Studios, the same creators of Paladins and Tribes: Ascend.
