Call of Duty
Call of Duty is a shooting video game franchise that was first released in October 2003. The first games in the series from the original game to the 3rd installment Call of Duty 3 were primarily set in World War 2. However, at the beginning of Call of Duty 4: ModernWarfare, the series shifted to focus away from the World War II and took place in modern times.
The Call of Duty series has sold over $ 175 million worldwide, a franchise that includes action figures, a card game, a comic book mini-series, and Mega Bloks sets.
Grand Theft Auto
Grand Theft Auto is an action-adventure video game series set in an open world. It was developed by Rockstar North and was published by Rockstar Games. The game was first released in 1997 for Microsoft Windows PCs and gaming laptops and was followed by 9 stand-alone games and two expansion packs. It is considered as the most successful video game in the United Kingdom. It is best known for its fictional locales that are modeled on American cities such as Vice City, San Andreas, and Liberty City.
The series has garnered more than $ 240 million in its franchise.
The Sims
The Sims is a strategic life-simulation game that was distributed by Electronic Arts. The series now consists of four main games, some compilations and expansion packs. By far, it is considered as the most successful PC gaming franchise of all time. In the game, players can create virtual people known as “Sims,” placing them in houses and must help direct their moods by satisfying their needs.
The first game was released in February 2000. Since then the series have sold more than $ 175 million, and gained records including “Best Selling PC Game of All Time” and “World’s Biggest-Selling Simulation Series.”
Minecraft
Minecraft is a popular sandbox-building video game that was developed by the Swedish video game developer Mojang. The game lets players build constructions using textured cubes in a generated world. It also includes resource gathering, crafting, combat, and exploration. It also offers multiple gameplay modes which include a survival mode, creative mode, and adventure mode.
The series has received praised from the critics and was so successful it even has its Lego set that was called “Micro World.” Minecraft even has its own poster books, handbooks, annuals, and magazines. The game is so popular that it has sold over $ 106.86 million.
Assassin’s Creed
Assassin’s Creed is a stealth video game set in a fictional history of world events. This action-adventure game was created by Ubisoft and was first released in November 2007, and was then followed 8 main games and some supporting materials. It follows the story of the Assassins, who fights for peace with free while, and the Templars, who desire peace but with control.
The game has sold over 93 million copies, thus became Ubisoft’s best-selling franchise. Novels and comics were created for Assassin’s Creed, while a film in regards to the game was released just last year starring Michael Fassbender.
