People are waiting for Diablo 4 with a passion, and it showed at this year’s BlizzCon. Throughout the year, there have been reports of Blizzard hiring people for an “unannounced project.” Considering that Diablo 3 has consistently been releasing updates for the past two years, news about the fourth installment of the beloved RPG series had been silent leading up to the event.
2016 is the 20th anniversary of the game, and this would have been the perfect time for the fourth chapter of the game to be released. But it wasn’t meant to be. Instead, we got more Diablo 3 to look forward to, and that’s absolutely fine.
There are three huge additions to the game that just makes Diablo 3 all the more enjoyable while you’re waiting. Let’s discuss each of those additions.
Throwback to 1996
The power of nostalgia is truly wonderful. Can you imagine playing a game from 1996 in 2017? While that may be different from how Blizzard usually rolls by creating sequels that provide significant improvements to its predecessor, you can’t say that going back to our gamer roots isn’t appealing.
For the 20th anniversary of the game, Blizzard is honoring the game by recreating the dungeons from the original Diablo for Diablo 3. Think about it. Beating the Butcher again but utilizing the Diablo 3 combat system? Awesome.
The Necromancer is Back
You might be thinking that another expansion like Reaper of Souls is needed right now. While that would still be a great idea in the future, each patch Blizzard has released has built the game to provide a complete experience that you can play hours and hours on end.
Adding a new expansion at this point might not be a good idea because it might completely change the game as it is now, but that doesn’t mean a new character isn’t welcome. With that said, Blizzard has finally heard our pleas, and they’re bringing back a fan favorite – the Necromancer.
While still in the development phase, it’s going to be fun controlling hordes of skeletons and fighting an equally massive horde of monsters again.
Brand New Adventure Zones
While the lack of a new expansion means there aren’t any new Acts to explore, but with the release of Reaper of Souls players spend most their time in Adventure Mode. Access to Bounties and Rifts make up a big part of the end-game content. With the new patches released, there are new Adventure Zones where players can encounter new environments and new monsters.
